Welcome to the Earth Day Blog Hop, if you’ve fallen off the bus just click on the picture above and you can get back on. Also if you are jumping on the tour midway if you click on the picture you can start at the beginning.
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Lauren Fraser and I write contemporary romance. I admit my books tend to be on the steamy side. *grin* One lucky commenter will win a copy of their choice of a book from my backlist so feel free to cruise on over to the bookshelf and see what’s available. Oh and be sure to comment on the blog post since that’s the way to enter. *grin*
Okay so I had good intentions for this blog post, honest I did, but when I started thinking of things to post that were environmentally conscious my mind did the normal thing and started thinking green. Well that’s when the wheels fell off the bus. Green made me think Green Lantern which of course made me think Ryan Reynolds and once I was thinking about him there was no turning back. So instead of my full-out environmentally conscious blog post that I had intended, yep you guessed it you’re getting some eye candy instead. Oops. But at least I’m keeping a green theme in my pics. LOL
What? He was green lantern after all.
Green socks
See, I told you I kept the theme green. LOL
All right, I managed to get the wheels back on, so here are 10 tips to make your home more Green.
1. Wash clothes in cold water
2. Use a clothesline and hang your clothes to dry.
3. Turn off lights when you are not in the room.
4. Program your thermostat to decrease the temperature at night when you are sleeping.
5. Bring your own reusable bags to the store to use rather than getting more plastic bags.
6. Use green cleaners to clean your home. There are loads of great non-toxic options; vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice or look for green alternatives in the store that use natural ingredients rather than harsh chemicals.
7. Clean and replace filters. Your furnace, vacuum, dryer etc all have to work considerably harder when the filter is dirty than when it’s clean. So a clean filter means less energy consumed.
8. Only run full loads with your dishwasher or laundry to save not only energy but water consumption as well.
9. Recycle, reduce, reuse.
10. And of course save a tree and read ebooks instead. *grin*
So what is your best tip for making your home more energy efficient? Or what do you do to help keep the earth a little greener?
Lauren
Your pictures are definitely … inspiring. I don’t have any more suggestions for saving our Earth. I think you pretty much covered it all. But I’m thinking I need to start at the beginning of your post again … just to make sure I’ve got them all. *vbg*
That was one cool cupid. ^_^ I do all ten things on your list, so that made me feel good. I also recycle everything I can. We’re fortunate to have single stream recycling with our trash pick up service. We put everything recyclable into one bin and put it on the street, and they sort it at their facilities. It saves us a lot of time and hassle, and we throw away only 1 – 2 bags of trash every week for a family of four. The recycle bin is always full. Not bad.
i recycle everything and I use CFL bulbs in every room to conserve energy. Happy Earth Day!
Yes you did keep them green..LOL
Those are all great tips. Me and my family try to do a lot of things to help the environment. If you don’t who will. We must look after our earth.
Big recyclers in our house, we also installed low flow faucets, showerhead and toilet in the bathrooms.
Happy Earth Day
I’ve always liked green! That’s a really complete list. One other thing I try to do is plan my errands along my driving route & not run out on a lot of extra little trips – saves time & gas.
Thanks for the all the Green tips and of course the “Green” themed pics;)

I am not sure where you are getting your information, but great topic.
I needs to spend some time learning much more or understanding more.
Thanks for fantastic info I was looking for this info for my mission.
Thank you for the suggestions; they are great ideas and I follow many of them. One thing I do is not to use the dry cycle of my dishwasher. I place the wet dishes on the draining board and let them air dry.
Happy Earth Day to All.
(I apologize if this is a double post)
You forgot rain barrels……we save so much water this way. I even fill the bird baths with rain water…..
My hubby goes around the house and unplugs everything not in use.
Happy Earth Day

I use the special lightbulbs, gone paperless with all my bills as well as paying online to cut down on even more paper, and mostly buy my books in digital form.

I do the usual – recycle, reusabel grocery sacks, efficient light bulbs, use fans to circulate air (ac at 80). Donate clothing furniture and household good.
We even went green with pest control. When our youngest was a baby didnt want to use pesticide around her so we got 4 anole lizards and release them into the house….22 years later our pest problems are still under control.
Happy Earth Day!
I do most of the list (except the clothes line due to allergies/asthma). I also use reusable water bottles, energy saving light bulbs, and so on.

Great choice of green pics! Happy Earth Day!
Turn down the thermostat and cuddle with hubby to keep warm and save energy in the winter!
I use energy efficient bulbs in my house and limit my water use too.
Love the color green. 😉 Thanks for the tips. We already do most them.
I’m a huge recycle person, I wash clothes in cold water, I watch tv in the dark and reuse plastic bags. I feel it’s our responsibility to take care of our earth.
